A Sonnet writing prompt entry

My thoughts are tangled, mired in grief
The world seems dark and cold.
There is no solace, no relief
No tiny hand to hold.

There's emptiness where once was joy
And tears where smiles should be.
I lost my child, my precious boy
Who meant the world to me.

I know he's in a better place
At peace and free from pain,
But how I long to see his face
And hold him once again.

I pray that when my life is done,
At heaven's gate I'll greet my son.
