A monster doesn't have to be ugly,
they can be good looking and suave.
Acting so normal and charming as well,
hold down a responsible job.
But it's what simmers under the surface,
dark intentions that cloud their mind.
Seeking to do harm, there's no empathy,
on the hunt, hurting victims they find.
It's every part of the world where they live,
they destroy, though they don't always kill.
Abusing their family, their spouse, and kids,
sucking life and joy from them at will.
Strangers there are, born with something inside,
they are monsters who can't seem to stop.
Serial killers stalking their prey
so relentless, until victims drop.
I think I'd prefer a real Frankenstein
or mummy I could recognize.
Instead of monsters who walk among us,
who hide behind a human disguise.
Monsters are anyone who take away
all one is and might someday become.
Monsters have been here since time began,
and will be here 'til our world succumbs.
