Skyward by Boogienights
Children's poem writing prompt entry

I dreamed of flight, then grew some wings,
soared high and touched a fluffy cloud.
Warmed by the sun, cooled by the moon,
electric stars sizzled out loud.

Flew higher still to outer space,
to have a better look around.
I hoped somebody would be there,
but there was no one to be found.

So happy I was having fun,
although my wings got frayed a bit.
A comet flew right by my head,
I laughed and ducked to not get hit.

I wheeled and tumbled with the wind,
danced on the trees that towered high.
I sat and rested on the wings,
of a jet liner flying by.

For now, I put my wings away,
mom said there'll be more time to fly.
There's lots more places to explore,
I'll see them all as time goes by.

It's fun to see and do new things,
but right now, I am just too small.
I'm not big yet but soon I'll grow,
one day I'll see and do it all.
