I never invited you
Into my world,
Yet, you came
And have long overstayed…
I feel you hovering in morn’s misty dawn
I see you lurking in nights’ doorways
I sense you behind my children’s tears
Each day you grow larger
With your taunting and
Pompous invectives
And I?
I have allowed you to stay
By saying nothing
And cowering under
The weight of your
Supposed power
No more.
You have caged
My spirit
And soul
For far too long...
I want you gone…
I demand you leave.
Your hold over me
Is finished…
And so today,
I simply declare:
"Away with you, damnable fear!”
My life, and
The lives of those
I love and cherish,
Are worth more
Than the weight
And numbing grief
Of your formidable presence.
From this moment,
I denounce you
That I may know,
Once again,
The beauty of life,
The balm of peace
And the beginnings of
Healing quiet…
