The Answer: Why I Write by Tom Horonzy
Why I Write writing prompt entry

Whenever I get an idea to write, be it day or night, it pulls on my leash like a dog with fleas. Now, never having lived within a canine's skin, inspiration does to me what bugs do to them. Itch.

Therefore, I scratch by writing it down or transferring the thought to a bedside recorder. I know if I don't, the instigator might flee, which may be good for a dog but not me.

Can you imagine 'how many' works of art have been lost because the artist never got a start by forgetting keywords or lucid memories? Ad infinitum, I'd say, and those who didn't never ascended to become writers of consequence like Lawrence Ferlinghetti or e.e.cummings. Not that I want to be, but I do like attention, as does the flea, riding beneath its host collar.

I like to write prose, poetry, and short stories with a dash of romance, a tickle of humor, or perhaps a tithing of faith-based material. Meeting new friends herein is also a fringe benefit.

As for FanStory, give them credit for stirring competition. The originators of the challenges presented reach across many spectrums. I wish there was a better way to have those without time or spare money to promote their works which is on par or better than many who can afford to move up in the standings.

I know I donate a lot of time reviewing so I can promote my own entries but that causes me to review pieces submitted offering high bonuses though I do read all submissions for contests I've entered. Surprisingly, there are some submissions offering two-bits that surpass those for a buck-fifty.

A catch-twenty-two for sure. I wish I had a suggestion for improvement, but I don't.
