I don't always enjoy Summer!
Surviving the Scorch by Fleedleflump
Poem of the Month contest entry

The symphony of summer fills my ears,
a surreptitious susurrus surrounds,
assaulting senses, sounds so hot they sear
on sun-soaked backdrops season’s sense abounds

in sensual sunsets, artfully arranged
on canvases of unassuming skies
in symbols, sigils and a star deranged,
emblazoned on my soul like all the lies

that sanctify the sun, embossed in scars
etched painfully across my ailing flesh;
the language of a covetous, bizarre
indelicate romancing of the fresh

Hell hounding me as each dawn sets its blaze:
I burn, baptised inside a shimmered haze.

Author Notes
It's always bugged me that hot, blazing weather gets referred to as 'nice weather' when sometimes, it really isn't!

I hope you enjoyed the read :-)

Huge thanks to cleo85 for the awesome image.
