Hunger by royowen

Is there a line 'tween age and youth,
how much is pride, what cost is truth?
I hungered once to bathe in fame,
but I could never play that game.

The fear of failure haunts my days,
and yet inside my passion plays.
Success though measured by the soul,
I favour goodness, that's my goal.

If I am kind to man or beast,
because with Christ I'll one day feast.
Though I prefer to place God first,
my faith will satisfy my thirst.

I once heard someone shout, "reach out"
"Be humble, boy, lest pride you spout"
But I believe that God is good,
don't let fate's gloom become your hood.

Though God can cover, justify,
I'll be His shadow, faith apply.
When Christ was hung upon a cross,
be likewise cowled, for gain is loss.

I hungered once to bathe in fame,
but I could never play that game.
