Life is an unfair competition

From the very beginning of life.

Those born to privilege and money,

The right people, with the right parents,

The right connections, family

And ethnic background.

Speaking the majority language

Belong to the right religious group

The right gender and sexual orientation,

The right political party,

Come out the gate

Already way ahead at birth

And they race to the top

And stay there for the most part.

Those born to the wrong people

The wrong social class

The wrong side of town

The wrong ethnic group.,

The wrong religious group,

The wrong gender

The wrong sexual orientation

The wrong political party,

Join the race of life

Already way behind

And for the most part

They never catch up.

The game is rigged

From the beginning.

Those that have the gold

Have the green

Make the rules

Of the game of life.

From the moment

One is born

The world sorts you out

Into winners and losers.

That’s just the way it is

In the unfair competition

That is our lot

In the game of life.
