Once upon a time,
I opened my eyes to find
a miracle arrived.
Free at last, free at last.
Thank God almighty
I'm free at last.
Faces smiling, people crying
welcoming me from whence I came
which I couldn't remember
though only a moment ago.
They glowed. I did too,
after they toweled
the icky goo off me.
Then, an ENT doctor
probed my inner parts;
eyes, ears, and throat
before letting me feast
upon the milk of life.
Delicious to taste
and quite desirable.
I paused only to breathe
which was rather difficult
being wrapped in a baby sack
tighter than a Christmas ham.
My hearing was unmuffled.
Seeing a new experience.
Breathing was joyful.
All mustiness gone.
I wiggled a number of piggies
that seemingly had a limit of ten
each on the way to the market.
That story never got old.
Finally, that first day ended
as God intended.
I was going home
with a person named 'mom,'
a bearded man tagged as 'dad,'
three sisters, and something known
as man's best friend, "Buddy."
The End.
