The sun is setting in the west,
let the nightly show begin.
It's quieter as darkness falls,
dusky shadows settle in.
I watch the yellows, reds, and golds,
as they paint the western sky.
Below, a restless great lake churns,
windswept waves are spinning high.
There's stillness as the sunlight wanes,
shaking off the cares of day.
I watch this light show God creates,
and it takes my breath away.
Sun rises are quite beautiful,
for a brand new day will start.
Still, I prefer the setting sun,
and the peace it brings my heart.
