Exceptional a rondeau Ice Cream Cone by Bill Schott A rondeau poem contest entry

Another contest rears its head,                  to write a poem that may be read;                   though history has clearly shown,        my topics int’rest me alone  -–                just simple scrawls of pencil lead.            When shooting staples in my head,        while thinking what reviews have said,  I hunger for this “ice cream cone” –       another contest.   Into the breach again I’m led,                      with equal parts of glee and dread;                I’ll write the words I think alone,             and hope to be within the zone               where works will not be left for dead –      another contest.
