Excellent Losing a friend through divorce. Broken by Kaiku No Rules Poetry Contest contest entry

Everyday I miss my friend. I try and find a path That separates me From that friend But I am unable. I even try to rationalize With logic and reasoning And still can't walk away From my friend. Too many memories I have packed away. Yes, a few I would rather forget. It's not the time alone That I live with, It's the time away from my friend That I can't live with. I sometimes sit in my chair Thinking the front door will open And there would stand my friend. The doorknob has been still. I've tried making new friends Difficult to do When your one friend in life Is all you really need. There remains a season of life For the both of us. A season winding down. It would be wonderful If our remaining season Could wind down together. Is that too much to ask My friend? Author Notes I miss my friend.
