Dogs offer support when people are down,
With their presence, a smile soon replaces a frown.
They try their best, with understanding ways,
To help bring good cheer for those dreary days.
They’d be like Teresa, most saintly of “mothers”
With kindness her life was spent serving others.
The weak and the ill were strengthened to cope,
Unconditional love given offered them hope.
Dogs don’t judge looks, size, or shape – neither did she!
They also accept vulnerability!
They’re by your side, encouraging and wise,
Just like her response to sad lonely cries.
Her love for all shone out, by day and by night. . .
Dogs too offer comfort, and that same insight -
No special training, but intuitive care,
And like Mother Teresa , they’re always there.
A noble lady, such a virtuous life led -
Like our four-legged friends, all so far ahead
Of those who don’t care, look the other way -
Dogs offer love, loyalty and joy each day.
If dogs were humans we would all declare
We’d have Mother Teresa everywhere -
Perhaps, like her, they could teach us to be
Compassionate towards all humanity!
