May peace and joy descend on me,
as I await eternity.
My time on earth is drawing near
and all the things that I hold dear.
I hope to spend my final time,
with poetry filled with fine rhyme.
Stay steady like my old oak tree,
enjoy the comforts brought to me.
I'll write of love, compassion, trust,
making new friends will be a must;
These are the things, down through one's life,
that help us through life's storms and strife.
As I await my final years,
Lord, please erase all doubts and fears.
My time on earth is nearly o'er
and I will look for Heavens door.
