Odin by nomi338 |
Jim got himself a black German Shepherd puppy. He could tell from the size of the parents that this puppy was going to grow into a large sized dog.
He named him Odin, a widely revered god in Germanic paganism. Jim built him a large sized doghouse and painted his name across the front of it. He made sure to insulate it well, as it rained often out where he lived in Wyoming. As a welcome home gift, Jim tossed a meaty soup bone to Odin. He was interested in seeing what the puppy would do with it. Odin at once attacked the bone with gusto, and as he did so, clouds started rolling in, and it started to rain. Odin looked annoyed, but he continued having his way with the soup bone. Suddenly there was a loud clap of thunder, followed by a flash of lightning that lit up the sky! Odin bounded into his new doghouse, turned, and fearfully looked out with longing at the abandoned soup bone. With a smile of amusement, Jim grabbed the bone and handed it to him. The puppy gratefully licked Jim's hand and then proceeded to put in more work on the delicious soup bone. All thoughts of raindrops, thunder, and fright-inducing lightning, were totally forgotten for the moment.
