She was ordinary looking,
there was nothing striking there.
She wiped the sweat off of her brow,
brushed back her auburn hair.
Then ladled soup in empty bowls,
passed out slices of bread
and said a sweet word to a child,
her kindness widely spread.
Most men who look, they cannot see,
the sparkle in her eyes.
All dressed up in her apron,
with blue eyes like summer skies.
Inside her beats a loving heart,
a soul that's primed to give,
to others who have little
with a life that's hard to live.
It's all about perspective,
there's beauty everywhere.
She sees light through the darkness,
the bright colors hidden there.
God made her not a beauty,
but she's beautiful indeed.
She trusts the lord will guide her,
to help where there's a need.
"Beauty's just skin deep", they say,
I would have to disagree.
It really lies deep down inside,
just look and you will see.
