Change of Scenery by Faith Williams Flash Fiction contest entry |
All Louis wanted was some color in his life. What little he could see through the dingy panes was gray and monotonous. One day his luck changed.
“Time to go, Louis.” Go? Would he finally get a change of scenery? Thrust somewhere unfamiliar at the end of a long, dark ride, Louis took a moment to adjust to his new surroundings. Sunlight poured through the sparkling clean glass. Peering out, he noticed everything appeared shiny and colorful. Enraptured with the scene before him, he did not know which way to look first. His eyes fixed on various vegetation in numerous shades of green. So taken with his improved arrangements and the stunning setting, Louis did not notice the move to a hot steam bath. Afterwards, he laid on a green bed. “How is it, my darling?” She smacked her lips before answering. “Sweet and delicious. Lobster is my favorite dish.”
