From cover of palmetto, cypress, ferns,
just blending in with seagulls, jays, and terns,
I'd watch the king of herons where he walked,
and memorized each movement, ev'ry squawk.
So much like you, your business acumen,
prioritizing what you needed then,
and fishing for the best from all your team.
Your sense of self made love a living dream.

How rhythmically your voice fills up a room.
I fear this distance cut potential bloom
of flow'ring love; affection can't be bold
due to responsibilities we hold.
Perhaps you long to meet another face,
out where the water joins the west with grace.
But if we'd rise through night, meet cheek to cheek,
I think we'd find the happiness we seek.
