Exactly 75 words. Title not included in the count. Author Notes True account, but the dialogue is fictional. A comment on personal qualities of dedication and perseverance - and on their effects on relationships. Many police and detectives spent most of their working lives trying to solve the murders of some young women, the disappearance of others, and in the criminal's early days of ''practice'', the violent attacks on, and rapes of, several other young women. Sometimes their families do not understand what drives them to continue trying to solve what looks like an insoluble set of crimes. This criminal was an ''ordinary'' man, very pleasant to all, with a steady respectable job. He was well spoken of by all his friends and acquaintances. He began his crimes in 1996 and was finally sentenced in 2020. Police never gave up. I commend and thank them for their perseverance, teamwork, and brilliance in following up on minuscule traces of evidence. The lives of these police, detectives and forensics experts are well spent. As for the murderer? No.
