When she was born one summer morn,
A tiny little thing,
She had no thought of days ahead
Or troubles they might bring.
She made great strides when she was young,
Though much she'd yet to learn.
The future wasn't known to her,
And that brought some concern.
How she'd survive from stage to stage -
That was a mystery.
She wondered when the time would come
She'd be all she could be.
With problems that she daily faced,
She ever persevered,
Though times she thought, when in a phase,
She'd not reach goals she'd neared.
Adults that all around her lived,
She always did admire.
To be exactly like they were
Was what she did aspire.
So much potential did she show
Upon examination.
She did her best from day to day
And wished for graduation.
And finally, a graduate,
She looked up to the sky,
And then in beauty soared away -
The monarch butterfly.
