Quietly.

Creeping

Ever so slowly.

Unnoticed

At first glance.

Until suddenly

It engulfs me whole

Devouring my essence

And potential.

Swiftly and with

Bleak finality

Only a shell

Remains.

Not of what was,

But of what

Could have been.
