Identity by Jaysa Manning A poem about a Man contest entry |
He wants to be something, something he’s not
He tries on many faces, many different masks
He tries to be normal, what would they do, he asks
He’s only hurting himself, something he hasn’t got
Too late to respond, nothing been taught
All that was learned, shoved into one task
To be somebody, something he is not
He tries on many faces, many different masks
Only wanting to reach, that happy spot
Emotions mixed and together, them he packs
Down, deep no longer seen, himself he smacks
He completed the chore, lost the shot
He wants to be something, something he’s not
