Another afternoon at the park with my grandson, Atticus. I watch him run faster than all the other kids and it makes me smile.  He is a little below the average height for his age but has a large spirit and a big heart. When he ends the race, he comes over to me and proudly tells me, “Being small doesn’t mean I can’t be fast.”  Ah, “Out of the mouths of babes.”. This phrase highlights how sometimes profound, wise, or surprising statements can come from children. 100-word flash fiction in Haibun style. It's a Japanese poetic form that combines prose and haiku. The prose is flash fiction with 100 to 130 words plus one haiku at the beginning or the end.
