Can There Be Peace on Earth by Tom Horonzy
Dear God contest entry

It is rather doubtful
considering even in heaven
there was a contention
that led a third of the hosts
to rue that day, for they
 thereafter wouldn't
get to inherit a body.

Could that have been
when jealousy stepped in?
Soon after, on earth, souls
 were given a second birth,
and envy found a second home
ending in Cain slaying  Abel
and war was on.

Both boys were birthed as twins,
(but not to each other but to sisters)
when one decides, "I won't give in"
so murder came upon him
whereby the assassin
was exiled to Nod.

Why can't men get along?
Could it be a case of genes?
Napolean was too short.
Genghis Khan, too mean
Hitler inherited a mental disease
and Putin?.. does whatever he pleases.

Still, why put a nose
where it isn't wanted.
The Crusades lasted
hundreds of years, and
unfortunately, those faiths
remain un simpatico, even still.

I, like Rodney King
want to know, is there an answer?
Scriptures give us many hints.
Do unto others;
don't bear false witness;
or be covetous.
Be slow to speak;
 quick to listen.
Bridle thy tongue
or be stung.

I feel somewhat assured
The Torah, Koran, and Bible,
include the words of God,
and agree more than not,
but the problem isn't in The Word
but man's interpretation.
For example, did Christ seek
retribution toward His oppressors?
Nay. Thus, "An eye for an eye."
became null and void.

So, what shall we do?
Ask the source.
God is always listening,
but more important would be
for man to await His answer.
Peace occurs when men concur.
Sadly, treaties are written
to end a war instead
of being writ afore they begin.

Author Notes
Clever is what clever does, and this still gives hope that Tom (me) has not gone completely demented, as this is not one in the series heretofore mentioned.

Doesn't the photo fit the piece?
