Time letter to great grandfather by GG. Letter to an ancestor contest entry |
Respected great grandfather.:
I request your forebearance, as you have not invited this missive, and also request your belief in it's origin, during the perusal of this letter. It is sent with the sincere faith as to it's usefulness.
For the off-chance that we might one day discover time travel, and the lesser chance that this letter might so reach you, it contains a smattering of enlightenment about your future, that could be of interest to you. Possibly, since time control does not exist yet for your contemporaries, hiding this letter seems good idea.
First a note of warning. In the matter of bringing the little girl newborn baby Gertrude, into the home as an adoption to be a "twin sister" to your just born MayOlive. If I may be so bold, I would advise against it. May's safety in the future is certainly involved. Secondly, I can inform you that the other two daughters, MayOlive and Kate, grew up to be God fearing, well loved and respected sister citizens. MayOlive travelled and settled in Canada, where her great-grandchild helped in the access to Space Travel. On a lesser note,- Kate's sweet collie dog Belvedere, still exists down through time, as a photograph. In a picture that has travelled worldwide. Kate might like to know. I have included a photo of your eldest daughter Kate, (my Grand-Aunt), at an adult age, in your future, and smart little Belvedere.
Now, I would like to include a little bit of a picture of living today in Canada, by describing some of the public attitudes, of this year 2024, ongoing here at present. Mayhap you would like to compare them with what people deal with where you are. MayOlive is welcome to read this letter upon leaving for Canada, although these Canadian attitudes will be somewhat beyond her future, even.
First, it is strange to think about, but (unless science prevents it), all the people now living in Canada, (with the exception of Angels), will have passed on, within a quick 130 years. 130, well, that's (positively thinking) just adding a few years to the longest present lifespan. Billions and billions of people, all gone. (to where ?) And where does all that life energy go ? Anyway, that's a lot to deal with. Where will we deal with that ? People are already finding remmnants of the past in their living area yards. (According to YouTube, society's eye on the pie).
So, I've, (forgive me), included this ramble about this period of time all those people are living, in Canada. About public attitudes. Now this, people of your time might find very odd, is that there is now, an attitude of being sweet to wild predators prowling in the midst of people living areas. Not a good idea, safety wise. Because wild predators have not evolved to be sweet and kind to anything they can eat. It's why their species survived. One thing that has previously kept any Humans safe, was their caution, even fear of Humans. And that is fast collectively dissapearing. The worlwide news carries the information. Extrapolate that into our future. We don't want to become a "prey species", again.
Speaking of prey on a different topic, scams. The scope of the deceit, of such, your time would be aghast at, I'm certain. Scams in Canada prey on the unaware. News stations are doing a worthy job of enlightening those unawary. But one wonders if schools should do also. Students could indeed, benefit from a teaching of the ways to reap the benefits of keeping a positive, honest, outlook.on life. The bible has somewhat gone from school-life.
This letter is in addition, a bit of an experiment in time, and I hopefully assume that you will not object to obtaining it.
Humanity is rabble-ing onwards. I believe there must be some things that don't change. Love of family, honour, and true faith.
One cannot help but wonder if a portion at least, of we billions and billions, will be "looking down from somewhere on high", in a different form, in 130 years, and STILL reflecting on the changing flow of Human Existence.
Most sincerely, I remain,
Your futuristic, great-grandaughter,
GG
