This work has reached the exceptional level
A father and daughter pretend cars are pirate ships
Pirate Ships by Pamusart

She watches folded flag set down
on mama’s lap while Susie cries
Her father’s open casket now
Is closed amid a bunch of lies

Nobody knows the half of it
Not mama, Susie, Sam or Bill
Her tummy hurts a little bit
so mama gives another pill

That kernel that becomes the truth
develops in her childhood brain
She doesn’t want to seem uncouth
She’ll wait until no folks remain

She started with her father’s zest
pretending cars were pirate ships
Tonight fulfills her deadly quest
He swerves too late, the brakes have slipped

They hit a tree and now she's free
Her father, though, is strapped right in
Seems all she did was scrape her knee
But, he can not escape his sin

He used to see her ev’ry night
right after mama made her rounds
She’d wished him dead with all her might
and now he’s almost underground

Author Notes
It is often hard to tell when/if a child has been abused

Here, this little girl has to watch her father being hailed as a hero. She knows better she plans to tell her mom after the service

Did she do anything to cause the crash? That mystery will just have to stay a mystery.
