It seems those shoes were sold for cash.

Their hopes are not completely dashed.

They’ve still found where the shoes were bought.

They can compare them when he’s caught.

They want to find a photo shot

from cameras around the shop.

They hope to see a face that will

be matched to he who paid the bill.

The labs have meanwhile been performed

on tree where matching sap was torn.

‘Twas halfway ‘tween the lake and plot,

and knowing this can help a lot.

They know from where the girl was dragged,

and ev’rything is marked and tagged.

And even though he took such care

fresh evidence might still be there.

Impressions of the shoes she wore

were made from prints on forest floor.

They prove that she was standing here.

She must have felt a ton of fear.

Triangulating tree to grave

now shows the twisted path it paved.

A tortured trip this poor girl took.

Forensics now can take a look.

The nail salons have not produced.

It’s not a clue, the team’s deduced.

They’ve checked salons within a mile.

A thorough list they have compiled.

She must have ventured far away

Perhaps her friends will know the way.

Receipts were found inside her place,

but of salons there’s not a trace.
