Background Publishing can be difficult. Since most of us want to be published and dream of having our books not only published but purchased. I wanted to share a phone call I received on Friday. I answered the call, and the person identified himself as Eric Foster. He stated he was from Amazon and wanted to help me with marketing my books on Amazon. This person knew my phone number, the books I'd published, and some more information about me. As we talked, he described how he wanted to raise my listings when customers did a search on Amazon for specific genres of books. That way they would immediately see my books. I thought how wonderful that would be and would, of course, like my books coming to the top of list when people searched for romance novel. Who wouldn't? I said, "I have a publisher, Kevin Sanders, and he takes care of my marketing. You need to contact him." This gentleman continued with his spiel. I again, reminded him that I couldn't and wouldn't do anything without my publisher. He continued. I said, "I will give your name and the number you called from to my publisher, and you will be hearing from him. His name is Kevin Sanders. Goodbye." I hung up. I texted Kevin with the information. About twenty minutes later, Kevin called me. He said he called and spoke with this person. He wasn't from Amazon and was a scammer. Kevin also told me which publishing company he was from. Sorry, I don't remember the entire name. I apologized to Kevin for bothering him with this. He said I did the right thing and to contact him when this happens. I wanted to share this with you. I don't want any of you to fall victim to calls like this. Recognized Author Notes I'm hoping this helps somebody. I only edited this once, so there are probably numerous errors.
