Awakening, I feel quite weak and ill
I reach to find you; you are still not there
Must I ascend now purgatory's hill,
The cross of unrequited love to bear?
Cruel fate has tempted me quite viciously
With subtle promise of forbidden fruit
I want to live my life maliciously
And never rise above a selfish brute
But I have promised God and ev'ry friend
That I would lead a life of charity
And never would I cause my life to end
So this I know in crystal clarity--
No matter what mistakes I do now make
The Lord my God will not my soul forsake.
