Chorales of trees in crimson robes
would gush with song, a canticle,
and serenade vocif'rously
if I did love thee in the fall.
You'd hear the trill of rustling leaves
in black-barked trees so straight and tall,
a rhapsody, autumnal suites
if I did love thee in the fall.
Warm breezes like a kitten's kiss,
a cashmere scarf or knitted shawl,
would keep you warm, your cheeks caress
if I did love thee in the fall.
No drizzling mist, no rain-drenched day,
just azure sky and Mister Sol
as arm-in-arm we'd amble on
if I did love thee in the fall.
