They were young and innocent,
Just sixteen.
Looking forward to their future,
not knowing how things had been.
They'd met at the park
one summers' day.
They walked and they talked,
loving what each had to say.
A match made in heaven
or so it would seem.
They had so much in common,
shared the same dream.
Although what had gone before
they were yet to know.
There was bad blood between their families
that had started long ago.
It stemmed from double crossing
so their families could never mix.
When told they met in secret
each evening at six.
They were spotted by an uncle
and warned to stay apart
so they never met again
and both had a broken heart.
