There is a fire that is ablaze in me
Although, I am a senior, I am
Still an aggressive competitor
On the fields of youth, I played
With an all-out desire to be the
Best basketball and baseball player
I could be. During my professional life
I applied my desire and studied
Hard to be the best I could be at my job
Now that I’m retired that competitive
Urge still demands to be tended
No longer am I able to perform on
Fields of my youthful endeavors
Now I seek to keep my fires ablaze
By more individual means, many
Seniors find a venue in golf, swimming
Or even long-distance running
I have chosen writing and bowling
It matters little to a true competitor which
Avenue is chosen to keep the competitive
Yearning satisfied. No matter my age,
I will yearn to compete, to fulfill my need try to
Be the best I can be, until my last day on earth.
