Okay, so have I mentioned I lack willpower? Now it's 3:20 AM and what's one more chapter before I lay me down to sleep, right? I see I have a lot to learn! I've thought of Fae as gentle beings... Or could Burkeheart be steering Piper wrong? Also, how am I supposed to sleep when I have a mystery on my hands? Oh my. To bed with me!
Your writing is quite addictive... Again, I say I'll be back soon... But not tonight!

Hi Karenina,
I hope you get some sleep, though I have to say how flattering it is have you read an extra chapter before heading to bed. I appreciate the effort you are putting forth to read and review.
Thank you,
Debi

I'm finding little chunks of time to feast on your writing... It's a treat!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. One should not insult someone they have just met. Ah, this must be so annoying for the Piper, I would want to know immediately, as well. I am very intrigued to know what is it they want from the Piper.

Thank goodness this has appeared; I was beginning to worry that we were to see no more of your promising story. Apologies for the lateness of this review; I have been away for a week's writers' tutored retreat in very rural Devon. It was outstandingly good. I fear I returned to discover 45 FS messages waiting.
I don't often read fantasy fiction, I guess because I intuitively suspect that I'm not going to enjoy it (with the exception of the incomparable Ursula Le Guin). And now there's you as well. I'm smitten with this story; I do hope it will last for at least five hundred chapters.
I didn't spot any typos/SPAGS.

Hi Adrian,
Thank you for very encouraging review. It is nice to hear that you looked forward to another installment. I love Ursula Le Guin. I don't compare by any means, but to be mentioned in the same paragraph makes me smile. I am pleased you look forward to more. I am sorry for the late response. I was called away for a week.

Well now, debi. You surprised me. You have taken on writing a book? Wonderful! And the best part is...you are good at it. Brilliant as a matter of fact. Your imagery and dialogue are superb!
Like: "
The Fae stopped in front of Piper and folded his arms, amusement in his eyes. "Well, well. Right to the point." The Fae smirked. "All good questions, Piper." He drummed his fingers on his arm and pursed his lips. "I wonder ..." the Fae glanced at the grave for a moment, then back at Piper. His face took on a more serious expression. "Perhaps this is not the best time and place for this discussion."
Very, very good.
Blessings, my friend and Happy Thanksgiving! Bob

Well , this is another exciting chapter with Piper meeting the Fae and the Guard coming to rescue or disturb the exchange of conversation between the Fae and Piper? There is a catch here somehow, I just can't quite guess yet. Perhaps another chapter will clear or confirm my hunch. Thanks for sharing this.

Your story is so enjoyable because it is so different and you have a nice easy writing style. Your characters are interesting and your descriptions of setting are good. We will wait and see the Fae turns up again. The meaning of my name, Faye (derived from fae)means fairy-some fairy! Faye

Hi Faye,
Thank you for following along with this story. I am so pleased that you are enjoying it. Yes, I think the Fae is going to be one of my favorite characters and highly likely to show up again. Good build up of suspense. I know many people shorten their chapters to get more responses, but I think it hurts in instances like this. For what is written, it's good, but incomplete. I would really like to read more of your work to make an informed decision. With that I leave you to it. Carry on.

Thank you for the recommendation. I was actually experimenting with shorter chapters after reading a couple of James Patterson novels. Somehow those short one or two page chapters kept me turning the pages because I kept thinking "I' 'll just read one more page" and then I stayed up all night and finished the book. Maybe it works better in book form. I will consider it. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment. I appreciate it.

Oh no, now I still have to wait to find out what the Fae wants with Piper. The chapter was well-written and kept my interest all the way through. Good job.

I get the impression that Fae is a minion of Satan's:
Fae isn't the only dangerous thing out here, and who knows if he is lying in wait to greet us somewhere along the way
The guard could be an angel (weapons instead of wings)
Just a thought.
Great wording and sentence variety.

A tinge of danger in the fae
but one who has learned and values patience
He did not come on a whim
but on a mission
yet to be revealed
What we do learn is Burkehart's name
but not if he is friend or foe
and why did he followed Piper to the cemetery
when his job is to guard the entrance
The story continues...
Well done

You are an astute reader. You have noted elements of both the Fae and Burkehart that no one else has mentioned. Thank you for the excellent review and analysis. I appreciate you following the story.
