I envy the duck his ability to fly away. Of course, I may deal with those feelings by cooking him up with orange sauce and having him for dinner. Your poem is well done, as it paints a vivid scene while also touching the emotions.

we're fortunate also to live on two acres with lots of room around. we can be outside (when it's not freezing - we're expecting more snow) Thisis a poem that makes me think of my today's thought - take timeto enjoy something of beauty. The ducks are beautiful

A very well-written 5-7-5 suite about he one you are allowed to spend at the duck pond while on lockdown. We may only buy food and medication no place else we may not even walk around the neighborhood.

I didn't think you'd ever be jealous of a duck either because you're the one who told me about their serial monogamy, unlike the faithful couples of swans and geese. So glad you can enjoy a serene setting in these times!

haha.... people usually get jealous of some attribute or feature rather than the whole package. I would love to have beautiful plumage and wings, but not their sex-life!!

:How fortunate you are to be so close to a Botanic Garden. The picture of that duck is beautiful. To think, you are able to survey Nature's creations, is splendid indeed.

This 5-7-5 pairing, By the Duck Pond, notes that ducks have many qualities we admire such as thir flight, flotation, beauty, and ability to skidaddle when they want.

We're pretty much on the same kind of lockdown. One last idiot Governor (of Florida) finally agreed to it. Prior to yesterday he was allowing folks to gather in crowds on the beaches, etc. Hugs, Lou

Yeah, ducks look like they have more freedom than we do (my parakeets might be envious, too, if they ever saw any.) 5-7-5s seem to be a great format to make a statement without belaboring the point. Nice share, and photo choice, too.

Yes, they can fly away. We are in self isolation as well. But I live in the country and not that many in our village. But all are hunkered down to my knowledge. Stay well!

Hi Lisa. We have exactly the same locked-down situation where we live, but yesterday they closed our biggest attraction, the Arboretum, indefinitely. But there are ducks in the ponds of the nearby park. Like you, I envy their ability to fly away. Stay safe. Rod
