I love these. So much is said and done with so little. The underline message of incoming doom("This only means that his coveted thirteenth victim has yet to be selected") is a terror that worms its way into your psyche until you go as mad as Roland Meechum. I'm not a fan of snowy dark nights and now this story has made it even worse. Thanks a lot, Dean :).

Roland Meechum, another urban legend shall be born of this one Dean. I am sure lol! Masterfully crafted work with this chilling tale of butchery. By the way, I am not stalking you my friend. I am trying to catch up with all of my 71 messages lol. I have been working an ungodly amount of hours paired with the flu!
God bless!

Pleasant screams....Little bits of terror...your terror complex is quite amazing. What is more amazing is your healthy balance of knowing God, but yet, knowing your talent and not being able to confuse the two. A GREAT tiny tale of terror. As always...I am a fan!

Imagine having to live on the edge all the time, waiting for the thirteenth kill and praying it won't be you. I can't figure out why the narrator sounds so pompous ( I was thirteen...very mature for my age.) and repeats that she listens in to police talk. Since the event happened the night she was left alone, I wondered if she was involved in the murder, although the size of the handprints would give it away.
The last line is great, but I have to admit I'm a bit confused about the narrator.

I can sum it up for you in two simple words, Shari.
False bravado
She acts they way she does to seem tough, and confident. In reality, she's scared enough to piss herself.
False Bravado.
Thanks for reading.

I may never look at a snow storm in the same way again. As a matter of fact, I'm just glad I read this a day after the snow storm ended. Thanks for another great read. :-)

Hi, Dean
= Waiting for something or someone to go bump in the night can tend to wear on one's nerves--yes, indeed!
= I was waiting for some gore, but nice to know the kid is only left 'expecting' gloom and doom. (*<*)
* Cheers & Blessings *
Keep Smilin'... Jackie (*>*) Jax

Yeah, I kept this one rather tame in the blood & gore department. I'm not a big fan of buckets of blood.
Thanks for you comments, Jax.

Once again, you have entertained us with one of your extremely well written stories. The characters and the plot are both very good. How is the book coming?

Thanks, Barbara. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
The book is coming along slow, but surely. Thanks so much for asking.

Your story is scary enough even without a blood and guts ending. And your author's notes are like a sequel since there wasn't a daughter in the story. Evi

You know me, Evi. I'm not a big fan of buckets of blood and gore stories. I think if you can make a story scary without resorting to those tactics, then you were really able to do something special.
The reception for this story has been lukewarm, at best. But that's okay. I refuse to write what amounts in my mind to nothing more than splatter porn.
Thanks for the awesome comments, as well as the very generous rating.
Take care, Evi.

I don't know why the reception is only lukewarm. I thought it was pretty cool. Evi

These are my faves. I have a short attention span and love getting a full dose of horror and spine tingling terror in one short story. I loved the visual of the bloody red against the pristine snow. Well done. Gretchen

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed them while they lasted, Gretchen, because I am shutting the project down just as soon as this story has had its run.
Thank you for your kind comments and generous rating. I also appreciate all of the support you've shown for this series.
Warmest wishes, my friend, and happy trails.
