Willie, I truly enjoyed your excellent and well-crafted poem. My Saturdays were spent cartoon extravaganza in the mornings and the double feature in the afternoon. I still prefer watching the older films on Turner Classic.
Well done.

This is a very well-written poem and a good walk down memory lane. You must have walked down that lane a year or two before me, or maybe it was cheaper where you lived. It cost me fifteen cents to get in. And I didn't have a girlfriend. But then I was only ten! Good job. Terry.

You poem created a lot of memories for me and I like that in what I read. Not just in poetry. The rhyme is fun and adds to my memory recall. I'm only 70. Movies were not a dime. We filled a car and went to drive ins. :-)

Even though none of these movies hold a lot of appeal for me, your memories drew me in. I remember almost all of these from TV, so I never had the dime experience. Still, your experience with your girlfriend brought me right to the ticket booth of my youth.

Nice reminder of another era. The fifties were great. In my little town, the movies cost a quarter but when you were in the theater, you could stay after one movie was over and see the next one or see the movie you just saw a second time. It was really buy one get one free. Not sure we were supposed to do that, but no one asked us to leave. (smile)
Well done Willie

You captured me with the title. I remember those days, somewhat differently, as you are older than I. When we were kids, the cartoons, horror movies, and westerns caught my attention, and for a quarter, not only did you gain entry, but could treat one's sweet tooth, too.

Hi Willie,
It's amazing how much has stayed the same with movies themselves. I still like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and Bing Crosby movies. Though I only see them on TV. When I was young I think movies cost 3 dollars. The Superheroes have stayed the same.
Keep writing and stay happy.
Good luck in the contest.

I grew up on the fifties too. My theater cost a quarter for all those memories. Back in the forties when I was under ten I could get in for dime. Those were the days for making memories. I enjoyed reading your poem.

Well... I remember a quarter, but there certainly were better films to choose from. I remember watching The Great Escape on the big screen like it was yesterday. Buttered popcorn, Junior Mints, and a Co-Cola (my family's pronunciation of it) were about the same as the admission.
Sending you my best today for this marvelous throwback.

This takes me back, although not that far but it made me remember Duran Duran and Adam Ant lol. Not sure if that is a good thing, though lol. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend.
