This is a very well written 5-7-5 poem. Insightful as well because we all fear rejection and pain so we stay in this wonderful soft cocoon. But outside, life is beautiful, still.

The message comes through a technically perfect form. The insect form coming out of the cocoon illustrates this perfectly. I wonder if you loaded the illustration and then wrote this gem, or did you write the verse and find the scene to fit? There is not much to criticize in a 5-7-5 with the rhythm, rhyme and reason of this.

Yes, the real world out there is harsh and full of concern and challenges. Sometimes, I wish I could just go back into my cocoon - my carefree days and let everyone else makes the difficult decisions for me. :-)

Great 5/7/5 form and content!

Good luck in the contest!

I read your poem, checked the count, nothing to say on the count side, all ok. Your poem was incredibly moving. I see exactly where you are coming from and I read your authors notes and found the poem even more moving.
CONGRATULATIONS you have a great talent.

Perfect 5-7-5 poem, well written, this is what I like the most about your poem...the content. In those three lines your wrote something very true. In childhood we think the world is not so complicated and what a surprise when we grow up!
I wish you luck in all your writings.

I love this poem, and what a great picture to go with it. The not out of cocoon line, is fascinating I can not tell if you were or were not out of the cocoon. I read it one way one time and the other way another time. The neatest thing about such short poetry is how many ways it can be interpreted. Thanks for writing it and keep up the good work.

Great hope for your poem in the 5-7-5 (seventeen syllable) contest defining our nature in terms of a moth or butterfly emerging from a cocoon's comfort on a sweet starry night.

It is a somber message that life is tougher than it's advertised as a child. This is an apt image of a protected and expectant soul experiencing the difference between what we want and what we have.

Wow, how beautiful is this your imagination of child's life under the cocooned world created by parents. Yes it can never be same again.
