Missed this contest entry. I like your "singing birds" ending up as "wake-up call" which makes for a haiku-like satori ending. Good use of alliteration of s-words (singing and sunrise) and onomatopoeia (chirping).

I am happy that I live on the fringe of the city where I could still hear the chirping of birds early in the morning. All the very best for your contest in nature, Kit.

A cute entry for this contest. The chirping birds are surely a pleasant wake up call. The picture of them lined up for chirping is adorable. Can't you just hear them? I've not been around much lately eotherOO==

Patty,
Please forgive me for my delay in responding. My husband has been in the hospital; I am going through my health issues, but I trust God. I am also behind in my message box. I know I have missed a lot of your work. I need to get caught up on the wedding.
Thanks so much for your review and comments; they are greatly appreciated.
Hugs...Portia

this reminds me of when I lived with my grandmother...
she had a tree outside my bedroom window...every morning I would wake to birds sitting in the trees and singing their little hearts out...
I love your poem...and this picture is precious...priceless...very nicely written...love Linda xxoo

Oh look at those little darling birdies singing in four-part harmony. The dawn chorus is always lovely to hear and your poem reminded me of this. being under lockdown has stopped the traffic and now we can enjoy the birdsong.

I Love that this was a piece that was connecting to nature but it can also be adapted into human life. The sun is rising, this is a wake up call and the start of our day. These 3-5-3 poems are truly warm ups that connect your mind to take juxtaposed things and make them correlate I would love to see a free form poem writing from this 3-5-3
