You really poured your heart out in this one. My heart goes out to you for the sore spots in yours. Your story is well-written. I do not see any need for improvement. Have a blessed day.

You seem to be a magnet for murders--please tread carefully.
This was an interesting read that had a special impact because you included an actual photograph of Deacon and your sister.
A larger-sized print might make your entry easier to read.
Best wishes, and stay safe.

How sad! What aterrible thing for each of these three to have been murdered, and all through such dreadful circumstances. Your story is very well written, meaningful, sad and poignant.

This is an excellent piece of creative non-fiction writing. It deals with three very interesting but sad cases, clearly but also very sympathetically. The photo also tells its own story.

What sad memories you have had to carry through your life. It is hard to believe that these crimes were never solved. But I am sure there are a lot more like that. Your story is very well-written.

Wow Mary, to me it seems amazing that you've known three people that have come to violent deaths. Cathy's story is a sad one that is played out far too many times in far too many homes. Very good read, enjoyed it. Cheers

Thank you Pearl. I do find it strange that I have known 3 people murdered on separate occasions. I appreciate you taking the time to read their story.
Best wishes,
Mary

Wow, what city was that? Sounds like Chicago. I'm glad your sister survived that whole mess.
Great writing. I saw no errors.
Thank you for sharing this interesting piece of humor. I threw out a prayer for the deceased, and you are helping them to be remembered. Nice!

Thank you Douglas for your very kind words. Actually, it was Cambridge/Somerville Massachusetts. Way back then there was mob fighting for control of the street. The exception was the office manager who lived in the suburbs.

It is so good of you to remember these people. As you point out, we move on with our own lives and often forget these tragedies.
You do a good job creating empathy for these deaths, especially Cathy's. It's sad she's somewhere still alone.

Thank you for sharing this with us. It's sad those lives were taken. I can understand your feeling. Especially with Cathy, abuse is hard.
You tell anybody I will kill your kids!" (I doubt this person would speak this way, but would use 'I'll')
And then there was the office manager.
What made matters worse was the Office Manager; (Keep Office Manager the same each time you use it.)

Good point Barbara, I will change it to "I'll" When it was told to me, It the speaker said, "I will," but that was because she was telling me. I used the first person, so I should have used. "I"ll".
Thank you for the review and help.
Best wishes,
Mary

It is interesting that you've personally known three people who were murdered. I can't think of anyone I've personally known in my long life who were murdered. I've known a couple who committed suicide. Except for Cathy, it seems the murderer wasn't known. It this case, even he didn't pay directly for his crime. I got a chuckle out of your Mom making rose clean her mouth with soap. I remberber being threatened with the soap when I repeated some words I'd heard my dad use.

Thank you for your review. I appreciate it. I am glad you enjoyed Rose's mouth washing. Knowing how opinionated and outspoken she is, I suspect she deserved it!
