This 5-7-5 suite, Small Mercies, has the right set up and seems to show us a person who spares crab grass and adores cob webs. Live and let live.

True enough - our assets can be our undoing - if not properly managed. Good poem to point this out- but yes, buy fly strips - that's what our son's family does - and it fills quickly.

Hi LisaMay -
Deep thoughts... but I do think you are quite astute in the premise that "the more we've got, the more there is to lose." It is an excellent message!
Thanks for sharing.

At least they have them in that final form, yeah...? ;) :) A great offering that truly puts the responsibility of caring for everything in the hands of the humans - our choices have long-reaching effects! ;) Thanx for sharing, my lady -- almost the end now! ;) Yvette

A very well-written 5-7-5 suite about the things in our daily lives we cannot always appreciate and sometimes even hate to see and experience them around us like the annoying flies that never stop coming from somewhere.

You are right on with the last statement. I lost my home in 2015 to fire. It took me a year to mourn because my dad built it for me and my family and he passed away in 1999. It was something that couldn't be replaced. The more we have the more we want it seems.

Hi Lisa. I like your series of 5-7-5. The photo is beautiful, weed or not. The symmetry is striking as are the colors. Therefore stanza two is my favorite, although all are excellent. Marilyn

LISAMAY - Oh how true! I can relate to everything that you said, especially in the author's note. Remember, "weeds" is just a name for beautiful flowers that you did not plant. LOL! Jerry

I like our poem and your author's note. On the theme of weeds, some are very pretty, such as the dandelion. The leaves also are full of nutrition that purifies our blood. The flies? I hate them with a passion, mostly because of their part in carrying germs. They should get trapped in a web. As for our assets? Be careful how you handle them and stay safe.

Oh there is a message, LisaMay. :) Flies love to annoy people to see if the will take out their trash, cut their yard and clean up the house. Yet, people do not see this. Being tied down we want to spread our wings and fly the world round, but... there's always a but somewhere... we can't. Time passes I let my bread grow, some people are painter, carpenters and work on crafts. Some people just lie around the house doing nothing. Some have forgotten good hygiene and don't shower. Like a fly we are trap in a web.
