This is one of a few FS writers interviews I have read and it's one of the most interesting one. What a life Gary has lived, what a struggle and what triumphant. I found many writers here or anywhere had a somewhat difficult childhood or life. I think writing is a great therapy. It has been for me for many years.

This is one of a few FS writers interviews I have read and it's one of the most interesting one. What a life Gary has lived, what a struggle and what triumphant. I found many writers here or anywhere had a somewhat difficult childhood or life. I think writing is a great therapy. It has been for me for many years.

It's always interesting to read an interview with an experienced writer, and for the most part, the interviewer in this piece asks functional questions. Of special interest are his questions regarding the FB experience, and Maclean's answers and comments are honest and understandable.
There are a few problems with the formatting and punctuation in this piece which I suspect Maclean would've noticed. These aren't important; what is important is that many better questions could've been asked, inquiring about the interviewee's reading experiences and favorite authors, and about details of his unusual childhood.

Frank, thank you very much for reading and reviewing the interview. Gary is an interesting fellow, a good writer, and reviewer. A problem for me with the interviews is the length. It would be real easy for the interview to get too long for anyone to read.
I try to focus on what I think is the most interesting aspect of the person's writing influences or interests. And in Gary's case, I felt I needed to cover his reviews. The questions you mentioned are good ones, but I felt limited by the length of the interview.
Gary did have a very unusual childhood. My purpose in the interview was to introduce that topic and call attention to it. Gary had written several chapters of a book about his experiences. I hope that people who are interested in more information will take a look at his writing on the subject. It is fascinating. Thank you, Terry.

This was an interesting interview with someone who writes similarly to me - following a thought as it grows and journeys. I only know Gary as someone who'll find the nits worth picking, so it was good to learn some background.
