I like the philosophical meaning of this excellent poem. Yes, one thing for sure is death, that applies to all; and it's gong to come one day. It's' scary to think of the world beyond, though most of my family is there, and I long to reunite with them.
Excellent imagery, visuals, presentation and your command on the rhyme and meter. Thank you for your author notes explaining things.

Beautiful writing, dear friend :) I couldn't have said it better. Life is a treasure, and we only have one. Why should we waste it? God gave His only Son for our sins. We should rejoice in all things life has to offer. Sometimes it takes some of us longer to realize, but when we finally open our eyes, we see how precious life is.

So round and round the circus tent, there's really just one end,
(The above reminds me of the rat race of life)
And:
though I believe lives aren't worth much, they tend to be a curse.
(Roy, this is a little dark, but then it's always darkest before the light.)
Also:
But then the Lord showed up one day, such joy can't be described
(You were truly Blessed that day.)

You've done a wonderful job of taking man in his sin state and showing how futile it is. So much so far out of reach, until you allow the One who gave His life for our freedom from sin and uselessness.

Our lives are of little worth in the end unless we have given our life to God. It may seem good for a while and we may think we are having fun, but our lives we surely seem like roulette wheel where the wrong move end it all unless we are sealed by the blood of the lamb..
