A beautiful message in this poetic testimony Roy. Your powerful message always hits home.
To lose one's life to this world to gain life in the next. Seems like a no-brainer if we count the Lord Jesus Christ's the one who'll set you free.

Blessings
Janet

Although the poem says, " For when we cross the finish line, I think I'll have a beer,
Tomorrow's race will start again, another falling tear.
So round and round the circus tent, there's really just one end,
as naked born and naked die lies surely round the bend.", I also believe God will forgive our sins and lead us to enter heaven.

Thanks for sharing

Deep things of the heart this is. It left me reading and re-reading. Thinking and rethinking and really leaving me to ponder. The rhymes the flow and the descriptive, deep imagery held and born in these very lines. And the last line truly comes to tie it all off so beautifully. Well done as if that was for me to say. Thank you for sharing and wishing you all the best. Have a wonderful day. Much love.

A few years ago, this guy, a friend of my children for many years, took his life with an overdose of heroin. He had a great paying job.

My husband actually helped him get at Pepsi Cola, he was only a few years away from retirement. He lost that job and his wife to a divorce. He hit rock bottom. He had tried to kill himself a few times before he finished himself off.

I just hope and pray God forgave him and let him enter the gates of Heaven. May he and my husband rest in peace. My husband really worried about him when he was alive. However, I do not think my husband thought Joe would have taken his own life.

Thank you for posting.

I agree with, my best friend committed suicide when I was only 18, it caused to spiral down, it was a shock, I still think of him, your dear husband, perhaps it turned out for the friend, bless you for these fantastic comments, blessings Roy

Roy,
Nice poem about how your life was before you were saved and how Jesus raised you from your worldly world. I was told Jesus is the only person (entity) who is steadfast and will never let you down. I've been there. In the past sometimes He was the only One I could always turn to who truly understood. He's brought me out of despair countless times when I was severely depressed.
Excellent poem, Roy.
Have a great weekend.
Blessings, Cindy

Faith can do wonders to one's psyche and give a clear direction to one's life. The 'circus,' you rightly call life, makes you go round and round and an anchor is found only in Faith ...
God bless you!

A minor suggestion, I fear me offering advice to you is almost akin to sacrilege but here goes. In the final verse you have used the same word NAME to rhyme with itself. Had you used GAME in the first instance would that have maintained the same meaning.

I very much liked especially the beginning of this poem, with your consideration of how our expectartions of life change, and especially shrink, as we age:
I believe lives aren't worth much, they tend to be a curse.
We struggle with our doubts and fears, at best our end is dark,
Fine words.
I was less keen on the end of the poem for technical reasons. The repetition of the word 'name' as the line-end rhyme of the last stanza weakens things, in my opinion. Kate xx
