I'm with you on the country music, JB. It always has meaning and keeps emotions in check. Sometimes a bit sad and sometimes meaningful in personal ways to each of us. Loved it! Best, JohnC

liked this ode to country music but I disagree. To me old time blues are the best music ever written. country and blues actually share a lot - I always thought that country was nothing but the poor white person's blues. or perhaps it is the other way around, blues are the poor black person's country lament?

-Thanks for sharing the note and poem, jaybird.
-You wrote a very good tribute to country music
and the things you like about it.
-There was a time when we were more into country music,
and actually saw Garth Brooks perform twice in Philadelphia.
-He put on a great show with great music.
-I like the third verse the best, along with the closing couplet!
-Very well done.

Per usual a good rhyming poem. The message is clear and relatable. The rhyme scheme is consistent throughout. The font is large and easily read. Overall, this is a well-done poem.

I enjoy country music very much, so I could totally relate to this poem. My favorite singer is Patsy Cline. Country music has great appeal and is quite haunting. We have many wonderful artists in this country.

Great imagery, visuals and rhyming. Thank you very much, I enjoyed this.

I totally agree! The only genre I like better is Christian music, which feeds not just my musical spirit but my soul. But, ahhh... Country music!
Have you ever heard 'Home Boy' by Eric Church? Find it here:

It calls out to so many little town guys who've walked away for 'glamor'. Silly kids...
Loved this, Jay. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Deb

Hi Jay!

I grew up on country music as it was my dad's favorite genre!

Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette--the soundtrack of my youth!

We have a whole new group of stars today, but oh, how I love those classics!

This is a poem that speaks to my heart! I love a good country song, but can rarely come up with a comeback when someone mocks: "Your dog died, your wife left, you lost your truck.... boohoohoo!" I applaud you for finding the reasons that you love this music - it's about emotion, not just sadness, but love, trust, compassion, joy and hate! Good job on the poem, and keep singing along to that good country music!
