Author this is a very good, and unique. I can see that a traumatic event like this would cause one to take up the pen and write, write, write.

Ms. Johnston likely had many thoughts of her own and may not have been aware to have sparked such talent.

Wishing you all the best in the contest. :))

Gloria, we learn about through many experience, others actions and the Good book as we ripen like grapes on the vine.

I had a and Johnson for Spanish. She gave me an F.
I deserved it.

Great poem. I like the pieces of work that make one think.

Well done! Keep up the good work!

This is really quite refreshingly different from any of the others I have read in regard to this contest. And very well written ir is too, having no real idea what inspired this work I can only say it was smooth, was not rhymed to any particular rhyme scheme, I'm viewing i as free verse, well done, blessings Roy

My approach to his free verse was intended with the unique twists of rhyme. Coloring outside the line is a personal habit, be well, friend!

That sounds like free, you don?t need consistent verses.

It is a good social commentary about teachers who have no heart or compassion for their students. They are dry and unfeeling and cause pain with their indifference. But luckily, there are other kind of teachers who students love and who example of how to teach and make their pupils grow.

Great imagery, visuals and presentation. I am sorry she caused you pain. But this was just the person she was, she didn't mean to intentionally cause you hard. I'd feel sorry for her.

Writing is always cathartic, it helps brings things out in the open and deal with the issues bothering you. Best of luck in the contest, thank you for sharing.

Joan, we learn many ways and if fortunate we learn from the behaviors of those who are in a place of control and gain wisdom from them that we can be different.

What a beautiful scenario. These are the stories that make up humanity, the anecdotes that shape characters and even whole lives. This is the kind of teacher, the kind of individuality, the system seeks to weed out for the 'greater good' - let's hope some spirit always shines through.

Mike we lean forward from the past and carry with us some baggage. But, if lucky much more wisdom, forgiveness, acceptance and Peace.

As your home life was too painful to express, your teacher had the good sense not to ask too many questions and realised that life at home wasn't so good for you, I enjoyed your well written poem with well chosen words, love Dolly x

I think I now know the reason why you write, and it is for Mrs. Johnson's sake, or it is because your passion is writing. Excellent work! I really like your entry. Thank you for sharing!

Wow :) writing such a poem requires a lot of talent. This story is fascinating, and Miss Johnson is so scary. It reminds me of some good films from 1990s.

Thank you Joanna, I still can recall her frosty nature ? however, we lean forward from the past and carry with us some baggage. But, if lucky much more wisdom, forgiveness, acceptance and Peace.

I'm unsure whether you are thankful that she never had the conversation with you, or you wished that she had spoken to you privately. Given the title, I assume you were thankful that she didn't pry. Perhaps she already knew something of your home life.

But it inspired you to pick up pen and paper, and I'm so glad that you did.

Good luck in this contest.

This shows that teachers can inspire you about how they react to what you do or don't do. It is good that she understood that you had secrets you didn't our couldn't write about then. It is sad that you felt that way.
But this led to your writing. Which is a good thing.
This is a well done free verse poem with some rhyme.
Good luck with the prompt
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan
