like westerns and western poetry.
Think a few words could have been cut to sharpen your prose.

The last stanza:
The loser's chest flowed blood the color of wine,
Shortly they'd measure him for a box of pine.
Liked ending at the beginning.

    I tried cutting it but it wouldn't even out with the other stanzas. Thank you though for the excellent rating.

There was a young cowboy-a gunslinger by fame...

This is a great line. I almost said ending line but as the ellipsis indicate there is no end to your story. There will always be someone out to prove he's faster, bigger, or stronger.
