"My Really Truly Christmas Songs"


Chapter 1
Introduction

I recently changed the title of this book. These were not meant to take the place of the genuine Christmas Carols.
 
Most of these were written in the mid-1970s during a break in work for my time at Macquarie University, on staff. Macquarie University is much bigger today than it was almost 40 years ago when I wrote most of these songs. It is the second youngest University, located in the City of Ryde in our State of NSW on the East Coast of Australia.

I had felt, for a long time, the need for something pointing to the fact that a lot of so-called "Carols By Candle Light" shows really did not concentrate on what the true message of Christmas actually is.

Hence the inspiration to write the lyrics and compose the music for most of these Christmas theme songs. The only one composed later, is the first one "He Came To Die For You" which was written in 2002.

May your hearts be open to the real message of the time of the coming of our Saviour to the world to save us from our sins. This is and was my total reason for these works of inspiration.

Chapter 2
He Came To Die For Us

1. Some think it's just a time for presents;

Others, an excuse for getting drunk

But it was the time many years ago,

For the greatest happ'ning of all.......



Chorus:

I'm just tired of us living a lie

'Coz we know that Jesus was born to die

Oh what a time for us all to come

And lay our lives at His feet.



2.There was no room for Jesus in the Inn

Have you got any room for Him?

Is your life so full in its mundane course

You are tossed about in the wind?

Chorus.

3.The World has blotted Christ from Christmas

Is He just an "X" in there to you?

Who cares if its origins were something else;

Jesus came to give life to You!

Last Chorus:

Don't you know He is Coming again!

If you take His Gift of Life you can come with us then;

Jesus Can save you If you want Him to...

HE WAS BORN TO DIE FOR YOU!!

Author Notes This was originally inspired at 5am one morning nearing the Christmas Season of the particular year. I bounded out of bed when the words started coming and just HAD to get them down!. I was so thankful to God for giving me the tune pretty soon after I wrote the lyrics. I have been told this could be a good song for any time. This was written as a Christmas Carol music is now working on Second link at top. Disregard black link. Can't remove it sorry. Not sure who owns the picture. Not from Fan Art Review.

Please be aware that this was written by an Australian so that if you think words don't rhyme in your own local "lingo" that is the reason. As a good friend has said even Shakespeare used 'almost rhymes' in his writings. Thanks to SemiSarah for Mother Cloud picture recently added.

I have tried and tried to get the music working on FS. Done all that Tom suggested to no avail. Here is a link to an old church web site I used to run's carols page with my carols on it. Needs Windows Media Player if you have something else write me can send MP3 files of tunes or alternate player for other than Windows.


Chapter 3
First Christmas

 1. Joseph and Mary came to Bethlehem
 Shepherds were minding sheep.
 And the Wise Men were scanning the heavens
 The course of "THE STAR" to keep.
 CHORUS
 Christmas Time is here again
 It's the birthday of Our Lord
 He's the Son God gave our souls to save,
 We read it in His Word.
 2.Joy  to all men and Glory on High
 Sang angels in bright array
 But our Saviour had no place to lay His Head
 Just a manger laid with hay
 Chorus:
 3.Praise be to God for His Wondrous Gift to us
 Heaven and Earth Rejoice
 May the blessed Message of Christmas,
 Be sung by ev'ry voice.
 Last Chorus:
 Christmas Time is here again
It's the birthday of Our Lord
He's the Son God gave our souls to save,
Now His message you have heard.

Glory To The Lamb

Let us praise His Holy Name

Christ Our Lord Was Born
Glo---ry, Praise His Name
For He came that Christmas Morn
2.Christmas Bells, O Hear them ringing
Telling of the New Born King
Born In Bethlehem, Judaea,
Of God's matchless Grace We Sing.

3. Old and young then raise your voices
Join with us to sing His Praise
Giving Thanks to God Our Father,
For that Happy Christ-mas Day.

He Came

1. The Lord Came Down from Heaven

In true humility

Born in a lowly Cattle Shed

The Son of God Is He

Chorus:

Our Heav'nly Father sent the Saviour of us all

That We From Sin Might Be Free

We only have to ask Him in

Our Friend for life to be.


2.Now, friend if you are doubting

That you're at peace with God

Come bow your head to Him in prayer

Trusting in His Word.

Chorus


3.We Wish you Happy Christmas

as we all praise God above

He gave to us His Only Son

That We might know His love.....
(Last verse only...Chorus (as above)& Coda below, at end)

Jesus Died for us so we could  live eternally.
