I took the picture by myself.
A snapshot of my world, it's true,
Will not tend to spark a story,
And may look like not much to you,
But close your eyes -- view its glory.
Because I'm blind, my pictures are
Filled up with every other sense.
So, "see" with me. I've raised the bar.
Let our shared journey now commence.
Relax and close your eyes right now.
Let sounds and smells rush over you.
It is not hard; I'll show you how
To view the world in ways anew.
Breathe in and "see" the fresh cut grass
That smells so verdant and so lush.
Do not allow this "sight" to pass
Because you're in too big a rush.
Now "see" the rays of warm spring sun
That dapple face and arms with heat.
Can you remember every one
And "see" them with each dawn you meet?
"Watch" the whispers of soft, warm breeze,
That swim through waving limbs nearby.
The vision of these rustling trees
Is seen with every swooshing sigh.
Then lick your lips and taste the scene
Of honeysuckle growing wild,
They're flavor bursts on vines of green,
A patch of yellow, sweetly mild.
Go revisit my photograph.
Please tell me, what do you "see" now?
I've shown you "sight" on your behalf,
Without your eyes if you allow.
You stepped inside this world of mine,
Where scented air and loud plants spark
Panoramas so grand and fine!
You too can see through blackest dark.
Next time you're on a wooded path
Or in your garden, think of me
and of my all black photograph....
There's more than just one way to see.
