One of the best days of my life.
Jump Ball
by Paul McFarland
Ten men are gathered around the center circle. The referee is making a final head count and checks with the scorer's table to see if everyone is ready to start the game. This is serious competition. It's town team basketball. Most of the players are recent graduates of high school and college. Most were outstanding players at their schools. My son is jumping center. The referee tosses the ball up between the two centers. My son controls the tip to me. I am fifty-five years old and am wondering if I can compete at this level. I am in heaven.
