A rhymed poem
A chapter in the book Thirty (hopefully) Poems for April
Not The Way You Look At Me
by Debra White
What I adore is not the way
you look at me with hopeful eyes -
It makes me want to break away
from obligation, compromise.
I feel the me I used to be
got lost in domesticity
and just the outer shell remains.
It’s so long since I felt like me.
What I’d adore is nothing more
than unencumbered days ahead
with no decisions to be made
and sleeping solo in my bed.

I'm was late starting NaPoWriMo this year, but I hope to catch up and write 30 poems in April.... almost on track!
Today, I started using a prompt from Poets and Writers to inspire me, but what I ended up with is totally unrelated!
